    BIOGRAPHY:

     

    Dr. Hongwei Qin has obtained her Ph.D from Department of Cell biology in 1999, She is a Postdoc Fellow in Department of medicine from 1999-2003 at University of Alabama, Birmingham. She Served as an Assistant Professor in Department of Cell Biology from 2003-2010. Now, currently she is serving as an Associate Professor in Department of cell, Developmental and Integrative Biology at University of Alabama, Birmingham. 

    Dr. Hongwei Qin research background is in cytokine-induced signaling pathways in immune and brain cells. As a PI or co-Investigator, she has characterized the signaling pathways that lead to SOCS1 and SOCS3 gene induction, and how the absence or presence of SOCS1 and SOCS3 proteins influences activation of STAT3, and the functionality of macrophages, microglia, T cells and astrocytes.
